Mighty Cuyahoga Merlot

Mighty Cuyahoga Merlot

$ 35.00

The Cuyahoga River is infamous for when its surface caught on fire in 1969, but it has made a remarkable recovery since then. The name “Cuyahoga” is a Native American translation for “crooked river” and it flows both south and north over its 100-mile course, ending at Lake Erie just 30 miles from its headwaters.

The Cuyahoga River was the western boundary of the U.S. from 1795 to 1803, and when Moses Cleveland first arrived at the mouth of the Cuyahoga in 1796, he chose that spot to locate a settlement that became Cleveland, Ohio. Our Merlot, medium-bodied with smooth tannins and flavors and aromas of black cherry, berries, plum and chocolate, honors this river that is the life’s blood flowing through our city.
