Lake Erie is well know for its lake effect snow storms, the result of weather patterns picking up moisture from the lake and depositing it at its eastern edge in the form of snow (and lots of it!). Lake Erie also creates its own microclimate along its shores, making this area fertile and popular for vineyards and orchards. Lake Erie’s very own varietal zone is ideal for growing grapes and especially for known for its Ice Wines. Our Vidal Ice Wine is full bodied and sweet with hints of apricots, honey and orange marmalade, is made from Ohio grapes from the “Snow Belt” and exemplifies the power and beauty of lake effect snow.
